A new utility program E2PLOTS is provided with Release 5. This program can be used for various operations involving plot files, such as:
The
E2XFBANK
utility (which was first discussed in EMME/2 NEWS Number 9) is
now distributed as part of the standard software release. It allows
to convert binary data bank files (emme2bank
) between the different
host systems. While this utility is of course a big help for users
switching from one type of computer system to another, it provides
also a very easy way to exchange data banks between different users.
The GPR utility has been enhanced to provide support for the new generation of HP Laserjet printers (such as the HP Laserjet III), which allow the use of TIFF type data compression for speeding up the transmission of graphic information. Depending on the precise contents of the plots, using data compression can cut the plotting time by as much as a factor of 4. A new GPR format file hplj3.fmt is provided for use with laser printers that support the TIFF data compression.
Two new format files are provided for GPL: The first, postscol.fmt, is used with PostScript compatible color printers. The second, dxf.fmt, provides an interface to transform EMME/2 plots into the DXF files. DXF is the standard plot file exchange format used by AUTOCAD and many other graphic systems.
