For EMME/2 users with multiple PC licences the new network licence server utility E2NETLIC has been developed. It allows operating EMME/2 on any PC connected to a local area network. One of the PCs serves as network licence server for EMME/2. A special multi-licence INROKEY is attached to this PC and E2NETLIC is run as a background TSR program, providing the corresponding number of floating licences to all EMME/2 users on the network.
Switching to E2NETLIC will allow organizations with multiple EMME/2 users on PC to centralize the administration of the EMME/2 licences, eliminating the need to keep track of a large number of INROKEYS, and avoiding the need to physically transfer keys when EMME/2 is used on different or new PCs. This mode of operation is particularly interesting to university departments using EMME/2 for courses, since no INROKEYS need to be installed on the PCs used by the students.
From an implementational point of view, E2NETLIC is based on the standard NetBios interface. As NetBios is supported by virtually all networking software, E2NETLIC can be used on a wide variety of PC networks, including Microsoft Windows Network, LAN Manager, Novell NetWare and Sunsoft PC-NFS.
