Aegerten, June 1994
After its official introduction at the Third European EMME/2 User's Conference in Stockholm last month, Release 7 of the EMME/2 system is now being shipped to all users. As always when a new release is distributed, we dedicate this issue of EMME/2 NEWS to describing the main new features and enhancements.
As was hinted at earlier in the ``In the Works'' column of previous issues, this release contains many major new developments. In addition to these, countless smaller improvements and enhancements have been incorporated into Release 7. Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all users who have contributed to this work by letting us know their problems and needs, and by sharing with us their ideas on how to improve EMME/2.

The testing and the documentation update for Release 7 have now been completed and this release will be sent out in June. A large effort associated with this release is a complete revamp of the User's Manual. This activity, as well as all the logistics related to this release, was led and organized by Diane Larin, our Technical Manager, with essential contributions made by Isabelle Constantin and Linda James-Lefebvre. Needless to say, this was a major project which required dedication, long working hours and the coordination of contributions from all other staff members. I trust that you will all enjoy using the new manual which has been produced using a new presentation format and also has an index, a feature which was requested by many users in the past.
Some users, including INRO staff members, have had the opportunity to use some of the new features of Release 7 successfully. It will not be long now until these features can be used and appreciated by the whole EMME/2 user community.
