As some of you may already know, INRO has revised its price list for EMME/2 licences as well as the policy for multiple licence discounts as of February 1, 1990. The new discounts for the purchase of multiple licences of the same size and class allow the purchase of a second licence at 50% discount and the purchase of the third and subsequent licences at 75% discount. The larger multiple licence discounts reduces drastically the cost of multiple CPU licences for all computer classes. It has the most impact on the purchase of PC licences in the MS DOS environment, which is now more equitable with the purchase of single licences on computers operating in a multi-user environment.
The discounts offered for the purchase of EMME/2 licences of different size and class is 25% for the second (different) licence and 30% for the third and subsequent (different) licences, with the discount applied to the least expensive licence purchased. For instance, an organization that already has an Intel 386 800 zone (B/4) licence and wishes to buy another 1200 zone licence on a SUN Sparc Station (D/5), is entitled to a 25% discount based on the price of the lesser cost Intel 386 licence. On the other hand, if they wish, at some later date, to purchase another Intel 386 licence or another 1200 zone SUN Sparc Station licence, a discount of 50% is applicable to either since they represent a second licence of the same size and class. By now, several organizations have already taken advantage of the new price policy and we expect that many more will do so in the very near future.
We are pleased to announce that, as a result of a project carried out with the assistance of Intergraph Europe, EMME/2 has been ported to run on the Intergraph Clipper based Interpro Workstations that run under UNIX System V. Thus, any Intergraph user may acquire EMME/2 to run on the same computer that is used to run Intergraph application software, whether it's DEC/VAX or Clipper based.
