Genoa Systems (San Jose, CA) offers an enhanced EGA board, called the Genoa SuperEGA HiRes 4850-5, which features, besides all the standard display modes (CGA, MDA, Hercules, EGA), also an 800 x 600 high resolution mode. The board requires a NEC Multisync or similar monitor. The resulting display quality is impressive, even the small letters on plots and work sheets are clearly readable. The combination of video board and monitor totals to about $1200 U.S. (list price U.S.) - a real bargain when compared to color graphic terminals with similar performance! Even higher resolution, 1280 x 800 pixel, is available on the Wyse 700 graphic subsystem. This is a 15-inch monochrome PC monitor replacement that features a very high resolution mode for CAD style applications, as well as the usual IBM low resolution video modes. Both, the DSI-32 and the DSI-780 family of coprocessor cards use basically the same interface to communicate with the host PC. Here is a summary of the PC resources used by the DSI boards which might be helpful in determining compatibility of the DSI boards with other PC peripherals. It shows the memory addresses, I/O ports and interrupts used by the DSI boards:

Since the "AT" setting may also be used as an alternative on XTs, most hardware conflicts (i.e. DSI board uses the same resource as does some other PC peripheral) may be circumvented by simply changing the XT/AT jumper(s). On ATs, the most likely reason for a hardware conflict is the 64k-byte memory window; e.g. many LANs (Local Area Network) use part of the same memory range. If this happens to be a problem for your installation, don't worry - INRO can customize your board to use a different memory window (contact INRO for details).
